Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Curve Cowboy Reunion?

A gathering of friends that have a common love for the BMW K1200LT and the camaraderie and spirit this grand motorcycle brings with it.

What is the History of the Curve Cowboy Reunion?

The Curve Cowboy Reunion started in the summer of 2000 when a group of K1200LT riders decided that it would be great to have a get together centered around the BMW K1200LT and our common interests.  A few of the K1200LT list's enthusiastic members planned and organized the K1200LT Rally.  Based on the brotherhood and friendship that ensued, along with the spirited riding that took place, it was decided at that point to rename the K1200LT Rally as the Curve Cowboy Reunion.  The first CCR was held in Broken Bow, Oklahoma on September 22-24, 2000 with 45 BMW K1200LTs and 60 participants in attendance.  To see some pictures and stories from last year's reunion, check out the Original CCR page. The next CCR will be held in Hot Springs, Arkansas on September 20-23, 2001.  For more information on the details, check out the rest of this web site.

Can I Join in on the Fun if I don't have a K1200LT?

Absolutely!!!  While the Curve Cowboy Reunion is centered around the BMW K1200LT, it is not an exclusive event.  Last year, we had several other bikes join us for all the activities, including the R1100RT, Honda Valkyrie, Honda Gold Wing, Yamaha Royal Star, and Honda V65 Magna.  The Curve Cowboy Reunion doesn't discriminate amongst motorcycles.  We're there for friendship, camaraderie, and spirit that the BMW K1200LT inspires.

Why have the Curve Cowboy Reunion in Hot Springs, Arkansas?

Several Reasons.  The proximity of the reunion location to the key people responsible for organizing this year's Curve Cowboy Reunion made Hot Springs a very logical choice.  For a more in depth answer to this question, check out the Why Hot Springs page.

We've made a couple scouting trips to Hot Springs.  If you're interested in pictures of the hotel, camping, or general site information, check out the Site Photos page.

Where Should I Stay?

The Headquarters Hotel is the Velda Rose Hotel in downtown Hot Springs.  Camping is available at either the Gulpha Gorge National Park or the Hot Springs KOA.  The camping locations are within 4 miles of the Hotel, so you don't have to worry about missing a thing if you choose to camp or stay at the hotel.  For more information on the Hotel, check out the Hotel Information page.  For more information on Camping options, check out the Camping Information page.  The following is the basic information you need to make your reservations:

What Activities are Planned?

The only formal activities that are currently planned for the Curve Cowboy Reunion are the Welcome Reception on Thursday Night and the Banquet on Saturday Night.  The rest is all up to you.  We have suggested riding routes that you can enjoy, but there will not be a scheduled Group Ride this year.  Check out the Suggested Riding Routes page for a list of area riding opportunities.

Hot Springs has many attractions and activities that you will enjoy.  Check out the About Hot Springs page for more information on Hot Springs.  Pictures of the area can be found on the Hot Springs Photos page.

As we get closer to the Reunion, there will be a list of scheduled activities posted to this website.  To see the schedule of activities, check out the Schedule of Events page.

How do I get to Hot Springs?

Hot Springs has easy access from I-40 to the North and Northwest and I-30 from the Southwest and East.  You can find your way to Hot Springs on the Directions page.  Check out the Directions page for more information.

Is there a Reunion Fee?

Yes.  The per person reunion fee grants you access to the Curve Cowboy Reunion sponsored events, including the Thursday Night Welcome Reception, Saturday Night Banquet, exclusive Garage Parking at the Velda Rose Hotel, as well as other reunion sponsored activities.  If you pre-register online or by mail by September 1, 2001, the Registration Fee is only $35 per person.  After September 1, 2001, registration upon check-in at the reunion will be $45 per person.

Why the Fee Increase on September 1, 2001?

Because the CCR is charged $10/person more for each additional person attending the reunion.  We were to provide accurate numbers to the Velda Rose Hotel by September 1, 2001.  Any changes to the final attendee count after September 1, 2001 would cost the reunion $10/person out of an already tight budget.

Do I have to register and pay a fee for my passenger?

Yes. The registration fee is per person, not per motorcycle. The per person registration fee includes access to the Curve Cowboy Reunion sponsored events, including admittance to the FREE Hors D'oeuvres at the Welcome Reception and FREE Dinner at the Saturday Night Banquet. So it will be necessary to pay reunion fees for both yourself and your passenger.

How are the proceeds of the Curve Cowboy Reunion used?

The Curve Cowboy Reunion is a non-profit organization.  We are charging just what we feel it will take to run this event and to ensure we have enough money to run the event as well as have some seed money for next year. That money will transfer to whomever gets elected to the Curve Cowboy Reunion Board for next year. We are not in this to make money. If we make money, we will loose our non-profit status.  The goal is to have a great reunion and to walk away with great memories.

How do I register?

We have offered the convenience of online registration to ease the registration process.  The online form allows you to enter your information and pay your registration fees by mail or online if you choose.  We also have a printable registration form which you can use to register by fax or mail.  Registrations and payments must be made by September 1, 2001 to qualify for the $35 fee; otherwise, the fee of $45 will be payable upon registration at the reunion.  To register for the Reunion using the online form, check out the Registration page.

When I register, is my hotel reservation made as well?

No, we do not have authorization to make reservations at either the hotel or camping locations on your behalf.  You will need to either call the hotel or camping location yourself to make reservations.  You can find all the information you need at the Hotel and Camping pages.

I already registered, but I need to pay.  How do I pay with PayPal?

Just use the button below and it will take you to the PayPal payment screen.  Because of limitations, you need to enter the amount of your payment yourself.  If you don't remember your amount, you can either register again and use the PayPal button on the registration confirmation page, or you can contact Eddie Pharr to find out your balance due.

Please remember to enter your balance due when you get to the PayPal payment page.  If you don't remember your balance due, please contact Eddie Pharr.

Okay, I'm registered.  What now?

If you haven't already done so, you still need to make your lodging arrangements yourself at either the Velda Rose Hotel or KOA Campground. Since lodging is on a first come first served basis, I recommend that anyone attending the Curve Cowboy Reunion contact either the Hotel or Campsite for reservations. A block of rooms at a special rate (called the "BMW Group in September") is available at the Velda Rose Hotel. If the reservation agent can't find it, ask to talk to Sherry. There is no special rate or block of spaces at the KOA Campground. The other Camping option at the National Park Campground does not accept reservations and is purely on a first come first served basis upon arrival.  Refer to the Hotel and Camping pages for details, rates, and contact information.

How do I get Curve Cowboy Reunion Merchandise?

You can only get Reunion Merchandise if you are attending the Curve Cowboy Reunion.  If you haven't registered yet, you may register and order your reunion merchandise on the Registration page.  If you have already registered and would like to order Reunion Merchandise , you can order your reunion merchandise on the Buy Reunion Stuff page.

I called the Velda Rose Hotel and they didn't know anything about the CCR or any special rate.  What do I do now?

Make sure you are asking for the $60.50 rate for the "BMW Group in September".  If the agent still doesn't understand, ask to talk to Sherry.  She is the manager that is helping us coordinate the event at the Hotel.

I called the Velda Rose Hotel and they said there were no more rooms available for the BMW Group.  What do I do now?

We've done our best to make sure that everyone can get a room at the Hotel, but as everyone knows, there are limits to everything.  That is why it is so important that if you have already registered online or you are thinking about registering or you are in the early stages of considering coming to the CCR in September, PLEASE make sure you make your own reservations as soon as possible. You can find all the details, rates, and contact information on the Hotel and Camping pages.

More rooms are opening up in Hot Springs.  As we get closer to the date, it appears that room blocks are opening up in and around Hot Springs.  Because this situation changes on a daily basis, please contact Gary Rollins for assistance with your lodging arrangements.  He would be glad to help.
