Suggested Riding Routes
Hot Springs, Arkansas offers access to some of the most scenic roads in America. These include Scenic Byway 7 to Harrison, Scenic Byway 21 to Huntsville, Scenic Byway 23 to Eureka Springs, Highway 16 snaking between Scenic Byway 23 and Scenic Byway 7 (also known as the Pig Trail), and the always beautiful Talimena Skyline Drive.
Details for various riding routes can be found in the Files section of the CCR II Group Site under CCR II Area Maps. Each route offers various options that allow shorter or longer trips using many of the scenic side roads that cut between each of the route's primary roads. Be sure to check out the Cool Area Info link for more details on the Hot Springs Area
Whether it be a long ride up the Scenic Byways that make up the Famous Pig Trail, or just a jaunt over to the Queen Wilhelmina Lodge and the Beautiful Talimena Skyline Drive, you can pick and choose which routes you want to ride.
We are encouraging everyone to gather for their own riding groups and take advantage of several wonderful day rides and destinations offered by our location in Hot Springs.
Due to the large number of attendees and the logistics required to organize and manage a Group Ride of this size safely, it was determined that there would be no organized group ride at this year's Curve Cowboy Reunion.

The following information includes suggested routings using many of the established scenic routes throughout the area.  Please take time to examine the route and determine how much or how little of the entire route plan you would like to take.  Most of the routing maps have notations that designate alternate routes and short cuts to make your ride a total adventure experience.

Petit Jean State Park and the Rockefeller Museum of Automobiles

Take a half-day ride up to the Petit Jean State Park and visit the Rockefeller Museum of Automobiles.  Located on Petit Jean Mountain, the Museum of Automobiles was founded in 1964 by the late Arkansas Governor, Winthrop Rockefeller.  It housed his collection of Antique & Classic Automobiles until 1975, when the Collection was sold, and the building and grounds donated to the State of Arkansas, Department of Parks.

This is an easy half-day ride, but then again, you might want to take the whole day.

Mount Nebo State Park

Take a half-day ride up to Mount Nebo State Park.  Rising 1,350 feet above the Arkansas River Valley, Mount Nebo offers spectacular views. The mountain has been attracting travelers and settlers for over 100 years when a resort hostelry was operated on the mountaintop for steamboat travelers. In 1933, a portion of the mountain was chosen as a park site, and logs and stones from Mount Nebo were used by the Civilian Conservation Corps to construct many of the park's bridges, trails, charming Rustic-style cabins and pavilions.

Food and Drink can be found in Dardanelle.  Some suggested spots include Peg & Deb's Diner or the Union Street Cafe, both on HWY 7 in Dardanelle.

NOTE: Highway 155 zigzags up the mountain and includes hairpin curves.

Magazine Mountain State Park and Shirley's Outback

Take a half-day ride up to Magazine Mountain State Park and stop in for lunch at Shirley's Outback.

Named by French explorer’s for its barn-like silhouette, Mount Magazine rises over the sprawling Arkansas River Valley in west central Arkansas. At 2,752 feet above sea level, Mount Magazine is the highest point in Arkansas.

Here, you’ll enjoy magnificent vistas of the broad river valley, the surrounding Ozark National Forest and distant mountains like Petit Jean and Mount Nebo. Mount Magazine has lured and fascinated explorers, naturalists, scientists and travelers for centuries, and you’ll understand why when you discover it for yourself.

When you're finished taking in the vistas, stop by Shirley's Outback for some lunch.  This is a very special place, because it is VERY motorcycle friendly.

Harrison Rolling Poker Run

Poker Run Only

Participate in a rolling Poker Run on the way up to Harrison.  If you don't know what a rolling poker run is, just think of your standard poker run.  But instead of stopping at pre-determined locations, one of the riders hands out cards at each stop along the way.  So any photo op or bathroom break can turn into an opportunity to get a card.

Once in Harrison, stop for Lunch at the Ol' Rockhouse before setting off to meet back up with the group continuing on to Peel's Ferry.  Or, you can just head straight back on your own adventure back to Hot Springs.

The Ol' Rockhouse Restaurant is a history rich restaurant offering great food for huge appetites in a casual atmosphere.  Our menu offers items from tender smoked Brisket and Ribs to Louisiana style fried Catfish.   We have a host of oversized salads and sandwiches to choose from, as well as our famous Bread Pudding. Tour groups welcome.

M-S 11-9, Sun 11-3. 416 S. Pine (Scenic Hwy 7 South), Harrison, AR  72601 PHONE    870-741-8047.

Queen Wilhelmina Lodge/Talimena Skyline Drive

Take a ride up to the Queen Wilhelmina Lodge and ride the incredibly fun Talimena Skyline Drive.  Atop Arkansas's second highest peak, this cloud-capped hideaway reigns above the Ouachita Mountains. Located on the Talimena Scenic Drive, the park is as rich in history as in scenery. In the late 1800s, a resort hostelry named Queen Wilhelmina Inn, in honor of the Queen of the Netherlands, was built on Rich Mountain by the Kansas City, Pittsburgh and Gulf Railroad. Since then, two inns have replaced the original "Castle in the Sky" the latest is this state park's focal point. The modern lodge offers 36 guest rooms plus two "Queen's Rooms" with fireplaces, and a restaurant serving fine Southern fare.

Make sure you stop in and say "Hello" to our F650 brothers and sisters at their annual Chain Gang - Jailbreak in the Clouds rally.
