What is the Curve Cowboy Reunion?

A gathering of friends that have a common love for the BMW K1200LT and the camaraderie and spirit this grand motorcycle brings with it.  Rather than call it the K1200LT Rally, we felt that the Curve Cowboy Reunion better represents the spirit and camaraderie that our group has built over the past few years.

What is the History of the Curve Cowboy Reunion?

The Curve Cowboy Reunion started in the summer of 2000 when a group of K1200LT riders decided that it would be great to have a get together centered around the BMW K1200LT and our common interests.  A few of the K1200LT list's enthusiastic members planned and organized the K1200LT Rally.  Based on the brotherhood and friendship that ensued, along with the spirited riding that took place, it was decided at that point to rename the K1200LT Rally as the Curve Cowboy Reunion.  The first CCR was held in Broken Bow, Oklahoma on September 22-24, 2000 with 45 BMW K1200LTs, 5 other bikes, and 60 participants in attendance.  The second CCR was held in Hot Springs, Arkansas on September 20-23, 2001 with 86 BMW K1200LTs, 6 other bikes, and 132 participants in attendance.

To see some pictures and stories from last year's reunion, check out the CCR I and CCR II Photo pages. The next CCR will be held in Santa Fe, New Mexico on September 3-6, 2002.  For more information on the details, check out the rest of this web site.

How does the Curve Cowboy Reunion Operate and how are the proceeds of the Curve Cowboy Reunion used?

The Curve Cowboy Reunion is a non-profit (IRS 501 (C) 3) organization.  A great deal of time, effort, and personal expense goes into hosting this event for the benefit of the attendees of the Curve Cowboy Reunion.  All funds collected by the reunion, via donations, reunion fees, and merchandise, are used to operate the reunion for the benefit of all who attend and as an initial seed funding for the following year. Any residual is donated to a local charity.  Nobody in the CCR is in this to make money. If the CCR makes money, it will loose its non-profit status.  The goal is to have a great reunion and to walk away with great memories.

In 2001, the Curve Cowboy Reunion on behalf of all the attendees donated over $1500 to First Step, an organization chartered to provide an array of services for children and adults with developmental disabilities in a community setting including early intervention, preschool, residential homes and supported employment.  Between the CCR's donation and the proceeds of the Bike Wash, over $1800 was secured for First Step.

I can't attend this year, but I'd like to help. How can I help?

If you can't attend, but you would like to help in some way, we have a Donation page which will allow you do donate a prize donation or cash donation.

I'm a vendor, how can I attend or help out?

If you are a vendor, there are two ways you can help.  One is by attending our reunion.  There is no separate vendor charge, but you will be required to register and pay just like any other attendee.  The other is by donating a prize of some sort.  In either case, you and/or your company will be profiled on our website.  You can find out more on the Vendors and Supporters page.

Can I Join in on the Fun if I don't have a K1200LT?

Absolutely!!!  While the Curve Cowboy Reunion is centered around the BMW K1200LT, it is not an exclusive event.  Over the years, we had several other bikes join us for all the activities, including the R1100RT, R1150GS, K1200RS, K1100LT, R1100S. Harley Davidson FLHTCUI, Honda Valkyrie, Honda Gold Wing, Yamaha Royal Star, and Honda V65 Magna.  The Curve Cowboy Reunion doesn't discriminate amongst motorcycles.  We're there for friendship, camaraderie, and spirit that the BMW K1200LT inspires.

Why have the Curve Cowboy Reunion in Santa Fe, New Mexico?

The CCR Board of Directors reviewed several site proposals and selected Santa Fe, NM as the best location for 2002.

If you have your own ideas or would like to host the CCR in your area next year, please contact us at questions@curvecowboyreunion.com.

Why the week of Labor Day?

Based on feedback from the attendees and other members not able to attend past Curve Cowboy Reunions, it was decided that a Mid-Week format would give the best opportunity to the most people to attend the Curve Cowboy Reunion in 2002.  This format will allow most people to use the weekends on each side of the reunion for travel, thus reducing the need to take additional vacation days to attend.

Also, scheduling the Curve Cowboy Reunion specifically through September 2-6. 2002 offers the attendees a unique opportunity to attend 3 rallies in the same week:

Iron Horse Four Corners Rally -- August 29-September 1, 2002
Curve Cowboy Reunion -- September 3-6, 2002
Bavarian Mountain Weekend (aka Sipapu Rally) -- September 7-8. 2002

Please see the Schedule page for more information.

I called the hotel and they have no more rooms, what do I do now?

We have a very large block of rooms allocated for the Reunion; however, it is quite possible that the room block has sold out.  Please contact Gary Rollins to verify room availability at the host hotels.

I called the hotel and they don't know about this $75/night rate thing, what do I do now?

The negotiated rate for the nights of September 3-6, 2002 at the Radisson of Santa Fe are $75/night.  If they are telling you something else, please contact Gary Rollins for assistance.

What Activities are Planned?

Activities are currently in the planning stage.  Based on the overwhelming success of the Tech Sessions, we plan on having them again this year.  Please check out the Calendar and Schedule of Events for more information.

How do I get to Santa Fe?

Directions to the event will be posted in the coming weeks.  Please check out the Directions page for more information.

Is there a Reunion Fee?

The Reunion Fee for CCR 2002 is $60/person.  The Curve Cowboy Reunion is a Non-Profit Organization dedicated to the annual BMW K1200LT Curve Cowboy Reunion. These fees are used to help fund the reunion and make your participation more enjoyable.

What do I get for my Reunion Fee?

The reunion fee is per person and includes your invitation to both reunion receptions, the coveted reunion banquet, access to all CCR activities and sessions, AND a special entertainment event reflecting the culture and spirit of Santa Fe.  The reunion fee also includes a rally pin, stickers, and your custom designed reunion badge. Without your reunion badge, you will not be granted access to the reunion activities.

Do I have to register and pay a fee for my guest(s)?

Yes.  The reunion fee is per person and includes your guest's invitation to the Reunion Welcome Reception and Dinner at the Reunion Banquet.  The reunion fee also grants your guest access to the technical sessions and educational seminars at the reunion.   Without a guest badge, your guest will not be granted access to the reunion activities.

How do I register?

Registration for the Curve Cowboy reunion can be found on the Registration page.  You may register online or via mail using the printed registration form.  Registering online is the preferred method of registering for the Curve Cowboy Reunion.

Important Note

Registering does not take care of your accommodations at the reunion.  You will still need to make your own arrangements for lodging at the reunion hotels.  Please be sure to visit the Hotel page for details, rates, and contact information.

Registration will be limited to the first 250 confirmed attendees.  Confirmed Reunion Registration is guaranteed by pre-payment of Reunion Fee.  If you have any questions, please contact Gary Rollins.

I already registered, but now I need to Pay.  How can I pay my reunion fee?

If you would like to pay without going through the hassle of re-entering your registration, you may use the Payment page.  Just make sure you verify your amount due and enter it in the appropriate area.  The reunion fee for this year is $60/person.

I already registered, but I haven't paid yet.  Is my place at the reunion at risk?

Until you have paid your registration fees in full, your registration is not yet confirmed.  The only way you can confirm your registration to the 2002 Curve Cowboy Reunion is to pay your registration fees.  Registrations will be confirmed on a first-pay, first-confirmed basis.  In short, until you pay for your registration at CCR III, your place at the reunion is at risk.

Why is registration limited to 250?

Limitations at the site venue require us to limit attendance to 250 attendees.  We would love to accommodate more of our friends, but based on our hard physical facilities limitations, we are forced to limit the size of the 2002 Curve Cowboy Reunion to 250 attendees.

What is the Registration Payment Policy?

The host hotel is expected to fill rapidly as a result of the rates and other concurrent events with CCR III. Consequently, any rooms reserved by individuals with the hotel, but not registered for CCR III (including full payment of reunion registration fees), will be cancelled from the CCR room block to be resold within thirty (30) days of the start of the event.

Registration will be limited to the first 250 confirmed attendees.  Confirmed Reunion Registration is guaranteed by pre-payment of Reunion Fee.  If you have any questions, please contact Gary Rollins

If you are not registered AND paid for the reunion BEFORE August 3, 2002, your reservation at the hotel will be cancelled and returned to the CCR III room block for reallocation.

What is the Cancellation Policy?

Because demand has exceeded the supply of rooms and banquet space in each of the past two years of the Curve Cowboy Reunion, and because the fixed cost of the event dictates, the Curve Cowboy Reunion Board of Directors regrets the adoption of a no refund policy on CCR III registration. The CCR Board of Directors reserves the right to cease acceptance of registration. In short, sign up now Cowboys and Cowgirls for your lodging and watch for the CCR III registration on the web site in order to register as soon as possible!!!

The Reunion is Sold Out.  What can I do?

We are taking names for a waiting list.

As with all events, people tend to change their minds at the last minute.  We want to offer the ability for people who have a change in plans to offer their confirmed registration at the reunion to people on the waiting list.  If you are still interested in attending the 2002 Curve Cowboy Reunion in Santa Fe, please take a moment to enter your contact information.  If a slot in the registration opens up, we will be contacting people on the waitlist in the order they submitted their contact on the Wait List.

My plans have changed and I cannot attend.  What can I do?

If your plans change and you want to offer your CONFIRMED registration to someone else, please contact Eddie Pharr.

Because we must know exactly who is attending the Curve Cowboy Reunion, all transfers of your place at the reunion to someone else MUST go through Eddie Pharr. Eddie will coordinate matching of people on the wait list with confirmed attendees who need to re-allocate their reunion slot and hotel reservation.

Please, DO NOT sell your slot without contacting Eddie Pharr.  It will make it difficult on the reunion organizers and difficult on the people who show up in your place.

Cancellations will be matched with Wait List entries through August 3, 2002 (30 days prior to the event).  After August 3, 2002, no cancellations will be processed.
