What is the Curve Cowboy Reunion?
A gathering of friends that have a common love for the BMW K1200LT and the camaraderie
and spirit this grand motorcycle brings with it. Rather than call it the
K1200LT Rally, we felt that the Curve Cowboy Reunion better represents the
spirit and camaraderie that our group has built over the past few years.
What is the History of the Curve Cowboy Reunion?
The Curve Cowboy Reunion started in the summer of 2000 when a group of
K1200LT riders decided that it would be great to have a get together centered around
the BMW K1200LT and our common interests. A few of the K1200LT list's
enthusiastic members planned and organized the first K1200LT
Rally. Based on the brotherhood and friendship that ensued, along with
the spirited riding that took place, it was decided at that point to rename
the K1200LT Rally as the Curve Cowboy Reunion.
- The first CCR was held in
Broken Bow, Oklahoma on September 22-24, 2000 with 45 BMW K1200LTs, 5 other
bikes, and 60
participants in attendance.

Arkansas on September 20-23, 2001 with 86 BMW K1200LTs, 6 other bikes, and 132
participants in attendance.

Tennessee on August 26-29, 2003 with 315 K1200LTs, 36 other bikes, and 498
participants in attendance.

How
does the Curve Cowboy Reunion Operate and how are the proceeds of the Curve
Cowboy Reunion used?
The Curve Cowboy Reunion is a
non-profit (IRS 501 (C) 3) organization. A great deal of time, effort,
and personal expense goes into hosting this event for the benefit of the
attendees of the Curve Cowboy Reunion. All funds collected by the
reunion, via donations, reunion fees, and merchandise, are used to operate the
reunion for the benefit of all who attend and as an initial seed funding for
the following year. Any residual is donated to a local charity. Nobody
in the CCR is in this to make
money. If the CCR makes money, it will loose its non-profit status. The goal is to have a great reunion and to walk away with great memories.
In
2001, the Curve Cowboy Reunion on behalf of all the attendees donated over
$1500 to First Step, an organization chartered to provide an array of services for children and adults with developmental disabilities in a community setting
including early intervention, preschool, residential homes and supported employment.
Between the Curve Cowboy Reunion's donation and the proceeds of the Bike Wash, over $1800 was
secured for First Step. In 2002, the Curve Cowboy Reunion on
behalf of all the attendees donated $5000 to the BMW MOA Foundation, an
organization under the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America chartered to carry out
educational activities that benefit the BMW Community, motorcycle riders in
general and other educational activities related to motorcycling.
In 2003, the Curve Cowboy Reunion on behalf of
all the attendees donated $8000 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Gatlinburg,
Tennessee, an organization who's mission is to inspire and enable all young
people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their
full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. Also,
the Curve Cowboy Reunion on behalf of all the attendees donated $500 to
Gatlinburg Interact, a Rotary-sponsored service club for young people ages
14-18. The program gives young people an opportunity to participate in fun,
meaningful service projects while developing leadership skills and meeting
new friends.
In 2004, the Curve Cowboy Reunion on behalf of
all the attendees raised nearly $12000 for the Summit County Mentors, a
well-established community-based mentoring program that matches caring adult
volunteers with youth ages 6 to 16. Summit County Mentors’ mission is
“to positively influence the youth of Summit County to lead healthy
lifestyles, through a consistent one-on-one relationship with an adult", and
$12000 for TAME, an organization that provides equine assisted therapies and
activities, including recreational riding for individuals with disabilities,
hippotherapy, equine assisted psychotherapy, driving, vaulting, competition
and other therapeutic and educational interactions with horses. And
generated over $1000 for the local Breckenridge Nordic Ski Team.
In 2005, the Curve Cowboy Reunion on behalf of
the attendees raised over $12000 for to "Focus on Success", an after school
program for at risk middle school students at Jackson Hole Middle School.
The program meets twice a week for adventure based experiential activities
to develop the skills that promote substance abuse prevention and enhance
school success. This donation was able to double the program budget
for 2005-2006.
In 2006, the Curve Cowboy Reunion on behalf of
the attendees raised over $22000 for the Barrow County Advocacy Center
(a.k.a., the "Treehouse"), an organization that provides advocacy and
treatment for victims of child abuse including counseling, medical help,
forensic evaluations, and conducts programs to help prevent abuse in all its
forms.

you can't attend, but you would like to help in some way, we have a

I'm
a vendor, how can I attend or help out?
If you are a
vendor, there are two ways you can help:

reunion. There are two ways to attend as a vendor. Some of our
vendors prefer to join us for all of the activities for the reunion, and
others participate as a vendor only. If you would like to attend the

will be complimentary. If you wish to attend only as a vendor, please

the silent auction are provided by our generous vendors and supporters.

us at
ccr@bmwlt.com. Upon donating for the silent
auction, you and/or your company will be

Vendors
and Supporters page.
Can I Join in on the Fun if I don't have a K1200LT?
Absolutely!!!
While the Curve Cowboy Reunion is centered around the BMW K1200LT,
it is not an exclusive event. Our focus has changed to offer
the best in Luxury Touring. Last year, more than 20% of our attendees
arrived on something other than a K1200LT. We expect that percentage
to grow as the appeal of our event draws a much more diverse group. Over the years, we had
other models join us for all the activities, including the R1100RT,
R1150GS, K1200RS, K1100LT, R1100S. Harley Davidson FLHTCUI, Honda
Valkyrie, Honda Gold Wing, Yamaha Royal Star, and Honda V65
Magna. The Curve Cowboy Reunion doesn't discriminate amongst
motorcycles. We're there for friendship, camaraderie, and
spirit that the BMW K1200LT inspires.
Why have the Curve Cowboy Reunion at the Tan-Tar-A Resort?
The CCR Board of Directors reviewed several
site proposals and selected the Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach, Missouri as the best location for 2007.
If you have your own ideas or would like to host the CCR in your area next
year, please contact us at ccr@bmwlt.com.
Why the week of Labor Day?
Based on feedback from the attendees and other members not able to attend
past Curve Cowboy Reunions, it was decided that a Mid-Week format would give
the best opportunity to the most people to attend the Curve Cowboy Reunion. This format will allow most people to use the weekends on each
side of the reunion for travel, thus reducing the need to take additional
vacation days to attend. With Labor Day falling on the tail end of this
year's reunion, it gives our attendees one extra day to get back home.
Please see the Schedule page for more
information.
