The Curve Cowboy Reunion
began with a few BMW enthusiasts who met at
Broken Bow, Oklahoma, over three days in September, 2000. They created the
opportunity for owners and riders to get together, 'in real life', outside
of the internet. The camaraderie and joy of the ride at that beginning leads
us still, this year to Rapid City, South Dakota, in August. At the heart of the event
was a BMW touring motorcycle, the K1200LT, but the annual reunion opened
itself to enthusiasts on all brands and models of motorcycle. The CCR event
promotes three fundamental goals: to present a positive view of motorcycling;
to promote rider education and safety; and to make a positive impact by contributing
to a worthy local group serving children to help them achieve its charitable
purpose in the host community.
- Are you looking for something different than the usual fare for a motorcycle rally?
- Are you looking for an event that is geared to the rider as well as the passenger?
- Are you or your spouse tired of riding thousands of miles only to find yourselves camping on the ground in the rain and long for the luxuries of a first-class hotel, room service, spa, or a heavenly bed?
We suggest an event that has thrived since the millennium....
In September, ride to the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota and spend September 1 through September 4, 2009 with us at the PREMIER,
hotel based Motorcycle Touring event of the year.
We are pleased to have our tenth Reunion at the Ramkota Hotel in Rapid City. This hotel is perfect for motorcycles and represents a very good value. We will 'own the hotel' with our attendees occupying almost every room. With ample banquet space, indoor meeting and vendor space as well as a generous lot for our outdoor vendors, we will have room to spare.
We will open the registration for the 2009 reunion on or about January 1, 2009. The number of available rooms in the host hotel will be limited to 250, so make sure you book early before they are gone.
Located in the heart of the Black Hills, the Ramkota Hotel will be a great
location for this year's reunion. The Ramkota is a fresh and clean hotel with a huge attached convention center. While The Ramkota has excellent dining on site, directly adjacent to the hotel are many excellent restaurants and a large mall. Downtown Rapid City is a wonderful dining and shopping destination and the merchants are ready to welcome the 2009 Curve Cowboy Reunion.
There will be great rides from the Devils Tower in Wyoming, to Badlands National Park in South Dakota. Nearby are Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial. Don't forget to visit the world famous Wall Drug when you travel to the Badlands. Come and enjoy all of the scenery and great riding that attracts hundreds of thousands of motorcyclists each year to the Sturgis Rally and Races, without the overwhelming noise and crowds.
Needles Highway and other routes through Custer State Park can occupy days of riding. You can travel from Rapid City through Custer to Newcastle, WY, then back through Lead and historic Deadwood to Sturgis. All of the roads are well maintained, with very low traffic during the time of year we will be there.
For those of you who like to ride the road less paved, there are miles of trails allowing you to explore the road less traveled.
Visit the Black Hills and Badlands website for even more information.
CCR is open to anyone, regardless of their preferred brand or model of motorcycle, but the event grew out of the BMW Luxury Touring Community at
www.bmwlt.com (formerly the K1200LT Group at YahooGroups) and continues to be dominated by BMW touring and dual sport motorcycles.
If this is sounds like what you've been looking for, take a virtual tour of CCR and visit the rest of our website, or come
join us on the internet at the BMW Luxury Touring Community in the Curve Cowboy Reunion Message Board,
and watch the tension build as August nears!!! BUT, you should know this event is put on entirely by volunteers and the format and venue always force
us to limit attendance. Most years we have we have sold out our available space well in advance of the event,
so we urge you to reserve your spot as soon as you can! We look forward to seeing you at this year's Curve Cowboy Reunion. Don't miss out on CCR this year!!!
